Item Spotlight: EcoTools 5 Piece Brush Set

Brand: Eco Tools
Price: 10-15 dollars
Stores: Target, CVS, Walgreens

Unlike other brushes on the market, The Eco tool brushes are created from recycled materials. The Brush handles are made from bamboo, and the bristles are 100 percent cruelty free.  This set comes with a case which includes a face/blush brush, a brow, lash comb, an eyeliner, concealer and eye shadow brush.

What I love about this brush set is that it comes with everything  I need for travel.  The brushes are very soft but sturdy enough to pick up color from shadows or blushes.

Quick tip: after cleaning makeup brushes in general with brush cleanser or conditioner, make sure you dry them by laying them down flat. DO NOT dry them standing up because the water will seep into the handles which will disintegrate the wood.

Covergirl Outlast Lipstain Review

Brand: Cover girl
Price: 7 dollars
Where to buy: Target, CVS, Rite Aid and anywhere Cover Girl is sold.

I bought this Cover girl lip stain in teasing blush because I wanted an alternative to lip gloss. The Lip stain pen is pink with a sharpie like head.

What I liked about it: it is portable and convenient to use If I'm in a hurry. The lip stain stayed on my lips all day long.

What I did not like: I didn't like the fact that it looks like a sharpie and it feels like I'm using a sharpie on my lips. The lip stain smells like cherry cough medicine.  After wearing it for a while, my lips started looking like how it looks when you eat a red Popsicle and the Popsicle stains the lips. It was difficult to take the color off of my lips with just water; I guess that's why it's a lip stain.

Wet and Wild Polish Review

Brand: Wet and Wild
Price: 99cents
Where to buy: Walgreens and CVS

I am a huge fan of the Wet and Wild nail polish in Black crème.  I have never tried their polish with glitter in it, only because when it comes to polish I am a matte and crème type of person.  I decided to try this Wet and Wild “Wild Shine” polish in Night Prowl. The polish is black with hot pink glitter in it.

What I like about it: the bottle looks like there is a ton of hot pink glitter inside, but when you apply it to your nail, the glitter comes out evenly. There glitter is not overwhelming, there’s  just enough glitter for you to see it but overwhelm the nail, if that makes any sense. You can see that the base is black with tiny glitters.  There is a lot of shine coming off of each nail after using the polish. The glitter helps with the shine as well.

What I don’t like:  The polish is a bit on the watery side, and after a day or two the polish chips off (but a good top coat can take care of that problem).

For 99cents you don’t have much to lose. I enjoy using this polish because it’s affordable and it’s fun to wear.

L’oreal Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara Review

Brand : L'oreal
Price: retails between 5-8 Dollars
Where to buy: Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens.

I’m a huge fan of mascaras, because of the fact that I have very few lashes and I am up for anything that will help these sad looking lashes look better. The more thicker a mascara makes my lashes look, the better. The L’oreal mascara I got was in black. On the back of the packaging it claims that this mascara has “lash plumping technology with hydra-collagen” which means more volume and thicker lashes.

What I like about it: I like the fact that this mascara came with a big wand. In my personal opinion the wand helps with the application of the product, a flimsy wand is not going to do so well compared to a big wand when applying mascara. The wand brought out just enough product for my lashes. I like the fact that it didn’t have a bad smell to it. I liked how it made my lashes look more thicker and it exaggerated the length of my lashes which was a plus.

What I didn’t like: I did not like the clumps. When you get volume you tend to get clumps and I got a couple of those on my lashes. The mascara did not make my lashes “12x thicker” like it said it would. When I think of the word “collagen” I think of plump lips, so I would assume it would really thicken my lashes. It did but not enough for me to think of the word “collagen” when I used it.

I think this mascara is great if you need to go out and buy a cheap mascara. It does the job any other mascara would. Though on my lashes, it did not do an amazing job. Then again it depends on the persons lashes because my lashes are little to begin with.

E.L.F. Beauty Book Review

Brand: E.L.F

Price: 5 dollars

Where to buy: Eyeslipsface and selected Target stores

I found the Beauty book in the makeup aisle at Target during their back to school sale. The packaging caught my eye first and with the sticker price being 5 dollars I couldn’t say no. The one I picked up was the Eye Brights Edition, they also have a Neutral eyes and a Smokey eye book.

The book comes with 12 colors, a small mirror above the shadows, black eyeliner and an applicator.  The other side of the book has instructions on how to use the eyeshadows.

What I like about it: I was very surprised at the fact that most of the colors were quite pigmented. The darker more neutral colors were a lot more pigmented than the lighter shimmery colors.  The shadows are neutral, metallic and glittery. What I enjoyed about the shadows is that you can pick up a lot of color with one swipe of a brush. My two favorite colors are the purple and cranberry colors.

What I didn’t like: There was a lot of fallout, especially with the real glittery shadows. the glittery-ness of the shadows are supposed to brighten up your eyes, hence the title “Eye Brights Edition”, Though much of the glitter was underneath my eye. You should use a light hand when using some of the shadows because it’s so pigmented, hence the fallout. I don’t care much for the eye liner, it smeared a lot. I have no use for the applicator besides using it to line my eyes.

Overall I think it is a good buy for the price. You get 12 good shadows for 5 dollars, and it’s portable if you need to take it with you somewhere.

My favorite MAC Lipsticks

I love MAC Lipsticks, I probably love them more than the lipglasses. I have Five that I am currently obsessed over at the moment.

(From left to right)

Viva glam Gaga (lustre)- I love this one so much that I bought a backup. It looks very barbie doll like on me.

Angel (frost)- this was one of the first lipsticks that I have ever purchased from MAC. Its My #1 go to lipstick. Its perfect for neutral looking days..and I have many days like that.

Brave (Satin) - this color was suggested to me by an MUA for a wedding that I was a part of. It complimented my skin tone and looked great in the pictures.

Girl About Town (Amplified) I love this color because it takes me out of my comfort zone, away from neutrals. It's a fun color to wear.

Captive (satin)- its a beautiful warm plum color, I purchased it specifically for fall.

Review : Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment

Year round my lips are very chapped and dry. I decided to switch from the lip Vaseline that I generally use during the summer to the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment for Fall and Winter because my lips are the worst during those two seasons. I have heard good things about this product but never tried it until about a month ago.

When I opened the product up, by the looking at it the first thing it reminded me of was Burts Bee's wax lip balm, and the Bee's lip balm did not work at all for me. To my surprise the The Sugar Lip Treatment is very smooth and creamy, not hard like chapstick I've used in the past but then again this can't be compared to chapstick, It has a minty type smell to it which makes my lips feel refreshed. During the cold mornings, I would apply this before heading out and unlike other lip products this one keeps my lips really smooth and soft hours after I've applied it.

I am really in love with this product because it has spf 15, keeps my lips hydrated, its creamy, has a nice smell and I don't have to keep reapplying it every hour. My lips have become much more softer and I have not seen any dryness in my lips at all which is most important.

this product can be purchased at Fresh and Sephora

Note: This product was purchased by me and the review is my own opinion.

Dior Addict

My favorite new lip gloss Dior Addict: Ultra Gloss Reflect in Pink Liberty. I've been trying to get into a different brand of lip gloss as of late. So I decided to pick this one up because one of my good friends had recommended it to me earlier in the week. She loves it and thought that I would too, and I do!!! So when I went to Sephora I got the last of Pink Liberty, but hopefully they will stock up on it again because it is a popular color.

What I like :
  • the packaging is really cute
  • it has a synthetic brush for easy application
  • the gloss has no smell to it
  • kept my lips glossy for hours
  • I love the color is very pigmented when applied on the lips

China Glaze

All work and no play makes me a tired girl :/

I know I am late at getting into China Glaze, though I am always late at trying new things out, there's just not enough time in the day. Work and School keeps me busy.

I was able to squeeze in some time to go to Sally's Beauty Supply. I would totally order the China Glaze online, but the fact that packages that I order somehow always end up at my neighbors house weirds me out. I try as much as possible not to order items online anymore.

So I went in and the buy 2 get one free sale was still going on for their polishes, and no sally discount card needed ( I asked). In total I got 6 China Glaze polishes, in the pic there are four in the front and two in the back. the four front polishes were the prettiest :) from left to right: For Audrey, Shower Together, Spontaneous, Pink Voltage. The two in the back: Up All Night and Black Diamond.

I love the colors, they are gorgeous. In total I paid around 25 dollars for 6 bottles, they are regular 5. 99 each. The link is below if you want to get some for yourself :)

Collective Haul

I only bought three items from the Sugarsweet Collection, I know I am late at getting something from this collection, but better late than never right lol. Okay so I bought the Seasonal Peach polish, the lipstick in Lolipop Loving and the eyeshadow in Dear Cupcake. I kinda regret getting the polish because it streaks!! since I've been hearing great stuff about China Glaze polish I think I might try it to see what all the fuss is about.

Yesterday my sister and I went shopping and I got two more items from MAC and because I'm an addict like that. MAC is second to my addiction to Starbucks Coffee (when Starbucks coffee employees knows you by name, that probably means you should stop going there for awhile lol). My sister loves Victoria's Secret so we went there and I gave in and bought their lip glosses 5 for 20 dollars why not? One gloss is missing because I gave it to my sister.

MAC Blush: in Pink Swoon
MAC Eyeshadow in : Deep Truth
VS Beauty Rush Lip Glosses: ( from left to right: Pearadise, Tropicool, Slice of Heaven, and I want Candy).

I finally got a makeup table..well it's more like at dresser with a mirror lol, instead of putting clothes in the drawers, I put my make collection :) in there.

Mineralize, pigment, and paint pots

It has been such a busy week with school and work . I wish I can take a vacation, but anyways I received a few items in the mail about a week ago, but I've been too busy to post it up. I thought I should now since I have time. Right now it's like 1am in the morning lol I am such a night owl.
Mineralize SkinFinish Natural in Medium-I love it, since it's getting hotter I use it more than my Studio fix powder/foundation., but what I don't love is the mess that it leaves behind on my table.
Pigments: Naked- Great Highlight color, it makes my eyebrows look like they've just been done.

Paint Pots: Artifact and Soft Ochre, I use Soft Ochre as a base, I have not used Artifact but it is such a beautiful color.

I've been looking for a new makeup table..but no luck so far :(

MAC Haul

I can't help but shop sometimes, especially when its late at night and I am bored. I ordered a few things from MAC about a week ago and it finally came.

Eyeshadows: Knight Divine (vp) and Beauty Marked (v) both shadows are very shimmery.

Fluidline: Macroviolet this is my first fluidline so I'm excited to use it and I will do a review on it later.

Lipstick : Speed Dial (creamsheen). I absolutly loove this lipstick it is soo creamy. My lips tend to get dry and usually before I apply lipstick I would have to mosturize my lips, but not with this lipstick. Most of my lipsticks are pink because I think that pink is the only color that looks good on my lips, but anyways I'm going to get some more creamsheen lipsticks ( that is if their not still sold out ) because I'm loving the formula.

Studio Sculpt Concealer in NW30 :I use the studio finish concealer in NW30 on a daily basis and I wanted to try this concealer because of all reviews I've read. To me The Sculpt concealer is not matte like the Studio finish concealer is. the Studio Sculpt is much creamer and easier to apply than the Studio Finish concealer. The Sculpt concealer feels like it could be a foundation
type formula but alot thicker in texture. I love the Sculpt because it blends alot faster and easier to the skin whereas with the Studio concealer I would have to put it on the back of my hand to warm it up then apply it. So two thumbs up for the Studio Sculpt !!

Pro Eye Makeup Remover: before this I used the Clinique Eye Makeup Remover which I didn't like because it was too oily for me. I like the Pro Remover because it does not leave my skin dry like the Clinique one does.

The Mac 213 Brush: I just wanted this brush for eyeshadow application, I am slowly adding to my collection of MAC brushes.

That is pretty much it for now, If I have time I will do another Haul/review by the end of this week if not earlier.

Review: Smashbox Artist Eye Palette

This was one of the hardest eye shadow palettes for me to get a hold of. First I went on Sephora.com they were sold out, Then I went to a Sephora store they were sold out of it too. So I gave in an ordered it from the Smashbox site. I have heard good reviews about this palette and thought I would try it out for myself.

Packaging- I love it, it is of course very creative.

Brush- The brush feels just like a MAC 239 but a bit more coarse.

Eyeshadows- They are each very pigmented which is great BUT it is somewhat powdery, I kept having to wipe around the edges of the shadow that I was using. The colors are very blendable. I am going to use this palette for neutral looks that I can wear to work. So over all 48 dollars is a good price for 10 eyeshadows. A good deal especially for beginners who are just starting to get into makeup.

MAC Haul

Today I went to the MAC Counter at Macy's with my boyfriend. Usually he hates going there because he doesn't understand why I spend so much money on makeup ( I can't help it, its an addiction, but I've only just begun :) ) and when he's there, dude just stands in one place and plays with his cell phone, sometimes I try to get him involved but he just zones me out. Today was a bit different, because he said he owed me a birthday gift and MAC was what I wanted. He didn't want to stand there again so he told me to pick out what I wanted and then call him when I was done, then he wandered off somewhere. The lady that helped me was really nice, I wanted the studio sculpt concealer but they ran out of my shade :( and they didn't have the loose pigment colors that I wanted either. Oh well I still picked out a few things, though the look on my boyfriends face was priceless when everything was rung up, he just swiped his card anyways lol.

So here's what I got:
MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in c4 ( I'm almost out of it, so I wanted to get a second one for backup, I use this everyday)
MAC Eyeshadows in Shroom and Satin Taupe
(these are the two that will complete my first palette :)
MAC 239 Eye Shader Brush
( I got the SE 239 brush from Holiday set and fell in love with it, so I had to get the original!)
MAC 187 Duo Fibre Brush
(This brush is soo soft and versatile, I could use it to apply my blush, my liquid and my powder foundation)

(shroom and satin taupe)

Review : Stila Face Contouring trio

I recently purchased the Stila Face Contouring Trio. I bought it for 9.97 plus tax @ COSTCO. It came with a long face brush, two lip glaze sticks and a Stila compact with the Light, Dark and Flash contouring colors. I have never tried Stila brand before.
So here are my thoughts:

I absolutely love the Lip Glaze Stick in Grapefruit, it has pink with a slight shimmer to it. The starfruit was darker and had more glitterness to it which I didn't like at all. Both goes on smooth like a lip gloss would which I liked.
(grapefruit on top,starfruit on bottom)
For the contouring powders I did not like how it was really powdery, the light color seemed chalky. I used the dark and light colors to contour my checks. It worked pretty well It made my cheeks looked more sculpted. Though the flash color made my face darker. Overall it did its job by giving the scuplted face illusion.
(flash above, light on left and dark on right)
